Privacy Policy — LiveCurrencyRate
Effective date: 3 August 2026 Last updated: 4 August 2026
This policy explains what the LiveCurrencyRate Android application
(com.livecurrencyrate.currencyrate, "the app") does with information. It is
written to describe the app's actual behaviour.
The short version
We do not collect any personal information about you. There is no account, no sign-up, no login, and no user profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, location, photos, or files, and we run no analytics.
The app does show advertising, supplied by Google AdMob. To do that, Google receives certain device information — including an advertising identifier — and uses it to select and measure ads. That is Google's processing, not ours, and it is described in section 4 below. In the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom you are asked for consent before any of it happens.
1. Who we are
LiveCurrencyRate is developed and operated by MD TAYOBUR RAHMAN, the independent developer who publishes the app.
For any privacy question, contact [email protected].
2. Information we do not collect
To be explicit, we collect none of the following:
- Names, email addresses, phone numbers, or any other contact details
- Account credentials of any kind
- Precise or approximate location
- Contacts, calendar, photos, camera, microphone, or files
- Analytics, crash reports, usage statistics, or behavioural data
- Purchase or payment information (the app has no purchases)
We integrate no analytics or attribution software. The only third-party service in the app is Google AdMob, covered below.
3. Information stored on your device
The app stores the following on your device only. It is never uploaded to us and never shared.
| What | Why | Where |
|---|---|---|
| Your chosen base currency | So rates are quoted against it | App preferences |
| Your theme choice (light / dark / system) | To honour your selection | App preferences |
| Decimal-places preference | To format rates as you asked | App preferences |
| Auto-refresh and Wi-Fi-only settings | To respect your sync choices | App preferences |
| Currency pairs you save | To show your tracked pairs | Local database |
| Recently used currency codes | To speed up the currency picker | App preferences |
| Cached exchange rates and up to 90 days of rate history | So the app works offline | Local database |
| The first page of cached articles | So the Articles tab opens offline | Local database |
| Timestamp of the last successful sync | To show data freshness | App preferences |
| Your advertising consent choice | So you are not asked repeatedly | App preferences |
This data lives in the app's private storage area, which Android isolates from other applications.
You can erase it at any time. Use Settings → Clear cached rates to remove cached rates, history and articles, or uninstall the app to remove everything.
4. Advertising
The app displays advertising supplied by Google AdMob, in three places:
- Banners at the bottom of the Rates and Articles screens
- In-feed adverts between articles in the Articles list, each marked AD
- Occasional full-screen adverts when opening an article — never on launch, never on exit, and rate limited so they cannot interrupt repeatedly
What Google receives
When an ad is requested, Google receives information from your device, which may include:
- Your device's advertising ID (a resettable identifier Android provides for advertising)
- Your IP address, and a coarse location derived from it
- Device and app information — model, operating system version, the app's identifier, screen size
- Ad interaction data — that an ad was shown, viewed, or clicked
Google uses this to select ads, to measure performance, and to limit how often you see the same ad. We never receive any of it, and we receive no report that identifies you.
Google's handling of this data is governed by its own policies:
Consent
In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, the app presents a consent form before any personalised advertising data is collected, using Google's User Messaging Platform. Your choice is recorded and respected. If you decline, ads may still appear but are non-personalised.
You can change your choice at any time where your region provides that option — the app surfaces a privacy options entry in Settings when it does.
Controlling ads yourself
Independently of the app, Android lets you:
- Reset your advertising ID, which severs it from past activity
- Delete your advertising ID entirely, after which apps receive no ID at all
Both are in Android Settings → Privacy → Ads (the exact path varies by manufacturer and version).
What advertising we do not do
- We do not sell your data to advertisers or anyone else
- We do not combine ad data with anything else the app holds
- We show no ads at all on the converter — the screen you are most likely to be part-way through using
- We show no advert on launch or on exit, and the full-screen ones are limited to at most one every few minutes, never on your first few articles
- In-feed adverts are always labelled AD and are never dressed up as articles
5. Information sent to our own server
To show exchange rates and articles, the app makes requests to our API at
https://livecurrencyrate.com/api/mobile.
Each request contains the endpoint and its parameters — a currency code, a currency pair, an article slug — plus a fixed application key that identifies the app build. That key identifies the application, not you. It is identical for every installation and carries no personal information.
Requests contain no account identifier, device identifier, advertising identifier, or personal information.
As with any internet request, our server receives the IP address it comes from. We use it only to apply a rate limit that protects the service from abuse. We do not use it to build a profile.
All traffic between the app and our server is encrypted with HTTPS.
6. Permissions
INTERNET— to fetch rates, articles and adsACCESS_NETWORK_STATE— to detect whether you are online and whether you are on Wi-Fi, so the "refresh on Wi-Fi only" setting workscom.google.android.gms.permission.AD_ID— to access the advertising ID for the advertising described in section 4
The app requests no runtime permissions. It never asks for location, contacts, storage, camera, microphone, or notifications.
7. Sharing
We do not sell your information and we do not share it with third parties for their own purposes.
Google acts as our advertising partner and receives the data in section 4 directly from your device. We may also disclose information if compelled by valid legal process — noting that we hold no personal information about app users.
8. Retention
Data on your device stays there until you clear it or uninstall the app. Rate history is pruned to a rolling 90-day window.
Our server request logs, which may contain IP addresses, are kept only as long as needed to operate the rate limit and protect against abuse.
Data Google holds is retained under Google's own policies, linked in section 4.
9. Children's privacy
The app is a general-purpose currency reference tool, rated for ages 18 and over. It is not directed at children, we do not knowingly collect information from children, and every ad request is tagged as not child-directed.
10. Your rights
We hold no personal information about you, so there is generally nothing for us to access, correct, export, or erase. Data the app holds is on your own device:
- Erasure — Settings → Clear cached rates, or uninstall the app
- Advertising consent — change it via the privacy options entry in Settings where your region offers one
- Advertising ID — reset or delete it in Android Settings
For data held by Google, exercise your rights through Google's privacy controls.
If you are covered by the GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or a similar law and believe we hold information about you, write to [email protected].
11. Accuracy of exchange rates
Exchange rates in the app are provided for information only. They are indicative reference rates, not a quote, an offer, or financial advice, and they may differ from the rate any bank, broker, or payment provider gives you. Do not rely on them for a transaction without confirming with your provider.
12. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes materially, we will update the effective date above and publish the revised policy at the same address. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the revised policy.
